Great bed, huge tv. Good wifi. Bathroom dated and found coffee cups not cleaned from last guest. Nice toiletries, free parking. Overall good for an old building. Would have liked somewhere to sit in the foyer (no access to waiting chairs before 8 or 9am??

We had lovely two night stay right in the heart of Launceston CBD. Central to wonderful restaurants and pubs with many hiking adventures within 30min walk. The owner is very helpful and informative about the area. Highly recommend.
Good luck if you get room (stable) 26 with someone stomping around in the room above you at odd hours of the night. There was no ability to open windows to get fresh air in the room, the lighting is very dim, and one of the coffee cups in my room wasn't clean. Otherwise, this place was fine and I had a good stay here for two nights. I preferred the parking behind the hotel on Babington Street rather than from the front which filled up quickly, and it was easy to walk around Launceston from here.
Eclectic taste in art shall we say, however the unexpected room upgrade was a welcome one for several nights. The facilities were up to scratch and it was clean – I could ask for little more. My only gripes would be the slightly limited parking, but more so the understaffed front desk. One imagines guests often needing to check in in the evenings but to my memory the doors were locked and the staff sent home by 6 or 7. Otherwise very pleasant, well-maintained and quiet, except for the morning traffic and occasional moron tearing up the hill at night.
Jan 2024: Art Hotel on York is a lovely privately owned hotel, close to the city centre, Penny Royal and many other attractions. Did not meet a single staff member until we checked out, but we needed to hunt down a cleaner to hand the keys to. Room was lovely, clean and extremely spacious. Bathroom was a little dated and pokey for the size of room. Would have loved to experience the breakfast, however it seems that a water damage claim has closed this for the foreseeable future. Sadly. Wasn't a fan of the large typeface signs warning guest's not to use the courtyard after 9pm etc. overall lovely stay and would definitely stay again.
Had an amazing stay at the Art Hotel and would have loved to stay longer! The room was beautiful, clean and spacious, the furniture very tasteful. Very cozy hotel and friendly staff! I can absolutely recommend it and will definitely stay here again if I come back to Launceston at some point!
The Art Hotel on York - Honestly such a cumfy stay and a very reasonable rate for such high quality furniture and great service staff. They were very helpful with organising transport to the airport and storing my bags after check out. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Launceston
Lovely old fashioned room with a very comfortable four poster bed, and stylish armchair. I loved the blue curtains and eiderdown and pretty wallpaper. It is so much nicer than a typical hotel room.
